My name is Dixie Forcht, and I am the spring play director and Thespian sponsor for STC High School, as well as the Large Group Speech Head Coach. I also serve the district as the middle and high school teacher librarian and media integrationist and district data analyst. And I teach dual credit Public Speaking for STC and MCC. I am originally from Texas, where I lived until moving to Iowa in 2006. I have a Master's degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in the Performance of Literature, and a minor in Radio/TV/Film from the University of North Texas. I also received my Bachelor's at UNT in Communication Studies with a minor in Political Science.

For 12 years, I was a high school forensics coach, traveling nationally with speech and debate students. I taught at Austin Westlake and Southlake Carroll Senior High (among others). I am a National Forensic League double diamond coach, with a national champion in Poetry, a 2nd place in Original Oratory, and numerous national finalists and semifinalists. I also coached a number of Texas State Champions, including Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, US Extemporaneous Speaking, Duet Acting, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and Congressional Debate.

After moving to Iowa, I returned to UNI to get my MAE in School Library Studies, an endorsement in K-12 Talented and Gifted Education, and K-12 Administrator Certification. I am currently working on my doctorate at University of Iowa in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies.

I have been director or assistant director for a number of plays, including Stage Door, Greater Tuna, The Diviners, You Can't Take It With You, Smash, Three Sisters, and I Remember Mama among others. I was also an actor and active member of Thespians (Troop 3359) when I was in high school. I competed in college forensics and one-act play, as well.

I am certified to teach Speech Communication, Theatre Arts, US Government, Economics, AP Psychology, K-12 Talented & Gifted, and School Library Studies.
